We are Blackwell & Ruth, award-winning creators of books, films and exhibitions for publishers and partners in forty countries. Our work is founded on subjects that matter to us and, we hope, add to the volume of good in the world.
We have been fortunate to originate five books with Nelson Mandela and his colleagues at the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Collectively they have been published in thirty-five languages. One of those books – Conversations with Myself – featured a foreword by President Obama. We also originated the only authorized portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales ever published, as well as books with South African anti-apartheid heroes Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Ahmed Kathrada, and a global project founded on interviews titled 200 Women. We are currently working with the Nelson Mandela Foundation on a major new project focused on leadership titled I know this to be true.
We have created a number of internationally bestselling projects focused on humanity. We created M.I.L.K.: Moments of Intimacy, Laughter and Kinship to celebrate what it is to be part of a family, to have friendship and, more than anything else, to be loved. The M.I.L.K. series of books sold over four million copies around the world and led us to creating a high quality print-on-demand photo book business.
We have created a number of award-winning books conceived to both celebrate the beauty of nature and our environment, and to provoke debate and action towards preserving it.
We have created a bestselling series of cookbooks that has already raised over $1 million for organizations dedicated to providing meals for people in need. We also created Truth, Love & Clean Cutlery: A guide to the truly good restaurants and food experiences of the world.
